Description: Recollections by Jim Birchim, born September 3, 1923, resident of Round Valley, Bishop and Big Pine. Included are stories related to early days at Birchim Ranch in Round Valley and ranching in Owens Valley, mining in the Eastern Sierra, packing and packers of the Eastern Sierra, specifically Mammoth Lakes area, tourists and resorts at Tom's Place and Mammoth Lakes, and presence of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power and construction of the Owens Gorge project.
